Texas SB 17: Scope and Key Provisions
Texas SB 17 restricts entities and individuals from countries of concern (China, Russia, Iran, North Korea) from owning real property in Texas. Key differences from Florida SB 264: (1) Texas applies more broadly, not only to those domiciled in the restricted country. (2) Restrictions extend to agricultural land and land near critical infrastructure. (3) Penalty for violation: forced divestiture of property, more severe than Florida. Constitutional Challenge Status
